It's a Mans World. Still.

Over the past week there have been some interesting ethical issues popping up in the news but none more so than decision the BBSA (British Bobsleigh Association) made to pull the funding on the women's team and not the men's. Their reasoning for this is they want at least one team to be able to compete in the world championships and winter Olympics, and in recent news it appears the women have managed to raise the money themselves to continue training. However does this justify their decision in the first place? Is it fair the women should lose their funding when the men don't? This particular issue very much reminds us of a world we used to live in and still do in some areas of the world but surely equality is a big issue in this story?
There are a number of other options the BBSA could have considered such as splitting the funding between the teams and then making up the rest via other means like fundraising. So were they right in making the decision they made? Or is this sport and many other activities in the world for that matter still biased against women?
